Prayer Requests

From 2nd

 to 9th sept.2011

1.   Declaration of independence: the Palestinians prepared a symbolic chair

The Palestinians are hoping to secure a seat at the United Nations next month. They already have the chair for it. Palestinian activists said Monday they would take the chair on an international tour to dramatize the Palestinian Authority's quest for U.N. recognition of a Palestinian state. The wooden chair is covered with embroidered blue upholstery featuring a Palestinian flag and the word "Palestine." It will be shown to diplomats in countries with influence at the U.N., including Britain, Russia and Lebanon, this month's rotating Security Council president. The chair's final stop is the U.N. Activist Waled Nazzar says the chair symbolizes the Palestinians' conviction that they deserve U.N. membership.

Israel and the United States oppose the Palestinian statehood bid, saying a state must be established through negotiations.

Pray for the Palestinian declaration of independence at the UN.

God's will be done on this issue, we do not pray against the will of God that is why we put this issue by  asking simply the will of God

2.   Risk of attack: High alert over planned infiltration plot in South (Egypt border)

The IDF went on high alert along Israel’s southern border with Egypt, and significantly bolstered its forces there, amid concrete intelligence that Islamic Jihad terrorists were planning to infiltrate Israel and carry out a similar attack to the one near Eilat (10 days ago).

3.   US Muslims call on Hamas to release Shalit.

A group of prominent North American muslims has call on Has leader Khaled Meshaal to release Israeli soldier Gilad Shalit.  They made this call through the letter in which they say:  We write to you during this holy month of Ramadan as Muslim-American leaders and scholars across the United States. As Muslims around the world reflect upon their faith and strive for an elevated level of devotion during this blessed month, we urge you to act upon our higher calling to charity and compassion by releasing Israeli Corporal Gilad Shalit.”

Pray for clear signs that he is still alive.

Pray for the conditions of detention of G. Shalit

Pray for his release

4.   Gaza: the terrorists obtained Libya’s anti aircraft missiles

For several weeks in Israel, leaders worry about a new axis in smuggling of arms that was created after the uprising against President Mubarak in Egypt, and the dictator Muammar Qaddafi in Libya. Israeli security officials say that the terrorist organizations from Gaza Strip have acquired Libyan SA-7 anti-aircraft missiles, anti-tank rocket. In addition, Egyptian border guards have seized a "large quantity" of weapons at the border with Libya. Those facts justify the high alert in southern Israel because of the fear of similar attacks about 2 weeks ago.

Pray that the smuggling and the export of arms and ammunition stop in Gaza Strip and into enemy territories.

May God help Israel to find crossings and stop that!

5.   September will probably bring an economic impact on Israel

While in Israel, the main concern is security because of September, the one-sided recognition of the Palestinian State could have significant economic consequences.  According to the analysts, international companies could close their branches in the country, waves of dismissals and an increase of taxes could indeed shake the Israeli economy. Nevertheless, the political leaders are confidents and they say “do not be afraid of the economic collapse.'”

Pray for the Israeli economy, for the increase of the exports and the investments.

6.   A Qassam rocket fell on Hof Ashkelon Regional Council

Pray for the rainy season which starts very soon (The rabbis began to pray for rain since Shavuot).

May the Lord give what Israel needs with water for the population, livestock and crops…

11.                     Israel: new fall of the unemployment rate

Over the last 8 months the Israeli unemployment rate continued to decline. Over the period January-April, it was 6 %, and over the last four months it has still lost 0.5 % to reach 5.5 %. In total, it’s 175 000 persons who are unemployed.

Blessed be the Lord for this wonderful device that protects the people from enemy fire. Pray for the ability of this device to intercept missiles.

Pray that this device be installed everywhere in the country and so that all people of Israel take advantage of it.

13.                     Anti-Semitism: Maingain regrets the attitude of the Center for the equality

Olivier Maingain, regretted the attitude of the Center for the equality and fight against racism in the file of "Zwinkrant"

BRUSSELS: according to Maingain the Center puts in danger its credibility by instituting no action against this periodical. In June, this newspaper “Zwin” published an article not signed about the squirrels in which the author blames the Jews; he compared them with the grey squirrels that are responsible for the disappearance of the red squirrels. Israel ‘Excessive’ in ‘Legal’ Block of Gaza Flotilla, UN Says

Israel’s effort last year to stop a flotilla of ships from reaching the Gaza Strip was legal, though the way it was carried out was “excessive and unreasonable,” the United Nations said in a report.

“Israel’s decision to board the vessels with such substantial force at a great distance from the blockade zone and with no final warning immediately prior to the boarding was excessive and unreasonable,” according to the 105-page report obtained by the New York Times and posted on its website. The UN said Israel’s naval blockade was legal, so “it follows that Israel was also entitled to enforce it.”

The Israeli raid on May 31, 2010, on vessels attempting to breach the blockade of the Hamas-controlled Gaza Strip left nine Turkish citizens dead, generated international criticism and prompted Turkey to suspend diplomatic and security cooperation. Turkey was once Israel’s closest ally in the region.

The release of the report, which has been held back, may do little to heal relations between nations. Turkey’s position is that both the Israeli maritime blockade of Gaza and the attack on the aid flotilla were unlawful.

Both countries were rebuked in the investigation.

“Although people are entitled to express their political views, the flotilla acted recklessly in attempting to breach the naval blockade,” the UN said in the report. “The majority of the flotilla participants had no violent intentions, but there exist serious questions about the conduct, true nature and objectives of the flotilla organizers.”

Israel’s Account

Israel has said that in the confrontation, which followed numerous warnings for the ships to change course, its soldiers were attacked with knives and clubs after boarding the Mavi Marmara, one of six vessels in the flotilla, and seven were wounded, including by gunfire after volunteers aboard the ship managed to grab Israeli firearms.

The report cited forensic evidence indicating that the dead were shot “multiple times,” including in the back or at close range. The findings also said Israeli soldiers faced “significant, organized and violent resistance” from a group of passengers on the vessel.

“The panel considers it important that an appropriate statement of regret be made by Israel in respect of the incident in light of its consequence,” the UN said. “Israel should offer payment for the benefit of the deceased and injured victims and their families.”

Turkey Demands Apology

That will probably frustrate Turkey, which demanded an apology. Expressions of regret would fall short of Israel taking responsibility for the deaths.

Foreign Minister Ahmet Davutoglu said yesterday that Turkey’s position is clear and won’t change until Israel apologizes, pays compensation and takes steps including the lifting of the blockade, according to state-run Anatolia news agency. Davutoglu will comment on the report’s findings and Turkey’s relationship with Israel today at 11 a.m. in Ankara.

“Turkey didn’t expect an Israeli apology before the report, and the fact that it said IDF response was excessive will make the government feel even more comfortable in challenging Israel on the Palestinian issue in all international forums,” Kaan Nazli, director of emerging markets at Medley Global Advisors in New York, said in an e-mail.

An Israeli official, speaking anonymously by phone because he wasn’t authorized to speak on the record, said the UN report clearly vindicates the Israeli position on the legality of the naval blockade and its enforcement. The official didn’t address parts of the report critical of Israeli action.

Legal Blockade

Israel has said the blockade is legal as it prevents the smuggling of weapons into Gaza, which is controlled by the Hamas movement. Hamas is designated a terrorist organization by the U.S., the European Union and Israel. Several boats have tried to breach the blockade since the May incident. All attempts were diverted peacefully.

Hamas’s charter calls for the destruction of the Jewish state and its leaders say they will renounce violence when Israel withdraws from territory occupied in 1967 and allows Palestinians to return to areas in Israel from which they fled in 1948.
